Real Madrid star defender, Raphael Varane, returned from his team’s 2-2 draw with Borussia Dortmund in the Champions League on Wednesday night to discover that burglars broke into his home to rob.
According to Spanish newspaper El Mundo, Varane admitted to police that he had forgotten to connect his sophisticated alarm system because he left the house in a hurry, as the gang of organized thieves broke into his residence in the affluent zone La Moraleja north of the Spanish capital, taking advantage of his absence to ransack the house and steal 12 exclusive watches among other property.
According to Police reports, the thieves made away £60,000 in money, clothes, jewelery and watches after they gain access into the house through an annexed chalet which was being worked on, before being able to force open the main door of the house, robbing the property which spreads over nearly 400 square metres.
Police are investigating the case and have some leads, including an Audi A-4 which was parked in front of Varane’s chalet.
A witness also said they saw “three or four people taking a case out of the house and putting it in the car”.
