Governor of Kogi state Yahaya Bello has lambasted Senator Dino Melaye for dragging him into the issue of an attempt to assassinate the lawmaker in the state. Bello mocked Melaye’s claims of an attack and said the state has been witnessing reports of imaginary attacks that never happened.
The Cable reports that Bello said through his director-general on media and publicity Kingsley Fanwo that he said nothing of the alleged attack on Melyae because he believed the police is capable of investigating the matter and he wanted to make informed comments.
Melaye said: “It is outrageous that four days after the attempt on my life, the Kogi State governor, the Chief Security Officer of the State, has neither called nor visited to know the state of affairs with him as a serving Senator from the state.
The Governor’s deafening silence speaks volumes.” But Bello replied later the same day: “If he accused me of complacency in the so-called assassination attempt, those who have been following the trend from the day his group promised to make Kogi ungovernable will not be surprised.
