A Lagos pastor identified as Pedro Olajide ran into a teenage girl on his way to the church. The pastor was arraigned before a magistrate court in Ikeja which was presided over by Y.O. Aje-Afunwa, the chief magistrates. The deceased who is yet to be identified was said to be about eighteen years of age.
The girl was said to have been crossing the Lagos-Abeokuta expressway at Dopemu under bridge when the incident happened.This was in a way, a violation of the rule as people are often advised to use the pedestrian bridge instead of crossing by themselves. The pastor ran into her at about 8am.
Olajide works and serves as a pastor in one of the local churches in Mangoro area of the state. The members of the church did not leave him all by himself as about twenty of them showed up in the court room when he was arraigned.
Adeyinka Akiola, the defense counsel pleaded with the court for him to be granted bail. The bail was however granted on liberal terms; Olajide was granted bail in the sum of N400,000 and he was asked to provide two sureties in like sum.
