Chief Emmanuel Nwankwo, a chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP in Iba Town and chairmanship aspirant in Ojo Local Government of Lagos state in the coming LG elections in the state has died. According to P.M.EXPRESS the Anambra State-born politician died barely ten minutes after returning from a PDP meeting held at the Lagos state secretariat on Wednesday, April 12.
Nwankwo’s death has thrown the residents and party members into confusion as they claimed that he might havebeen poisoned due to the party leadership crises in the area. There has been leadership tussle among the PDP members in Iba town between the Igbo and other ethnic groups in the area. At the end, Nwankwo emerged as chairman and was hoping to be the party aspirant before this incident happened.
Meanwhile, his corpse has been taken down to his village and deposited at a mortuary from where he will taken for burial.
