Twenty suspects have been arrested by the Benue state police command in connection with cattle rustling and the killings in Zaki Biam and other parts of the state.
The Punch, citing Northern City News, reports that the police also recovered a huge cache of arms and ammunition from the house of a suspected kingpin, Terwaze Awkaza, popularly known as Gana. The Benue state commissioner of police, Bashir Makama, who disclosed the arrest of the suspects on Sunday, April 9, said the 20 accused persons had been taken to Abuja for further investigation.
According to Makama, some of the suspects were members of the murderous gang that attacked the Zaki Biam market where many traders were killed and others injured.
Correspondents learned that the commissioner also revealed that his men arrested herdsmen in connection with an attack ona community. He said they would be arraigned in court on conclusion of investigation.
